South Carolina continues to span the eastern seaboard for offensive line talent and on Monday, the Gamecocks and quarterbacks coach G.A. Mangus offered one of New Jersey’s best in Dan Foose of Paramus Catholic. The 6-foot-6, 310-pounder spoke with TheBigSpur.com about his recruitment and his thoughts on the Carolina offer.
"Coach Mangus came by and offered me today,” he said. “He told my coach that he wants me to visit and he likes how I play. He said I could play tackle or guard. He seemed like a great guy and just wants to win the SEC. I’m going to visit South Carolina in June or July. My interest level in South Carolina is definitely high. They are in the SEC and they have great coaches. I’ve watched them on TV a couple of times and they have a bunch of athletes. Location is not a factor in my decision."

Foose broke down his current offer sheet.

"I have eight offers,” he said. “Rutgers, Boston College, South Carolina, Stanford, Minnesota, USF, Louisville, and Akron. Miami, North Carolina, Pittsburgh and Florida are showing me some interest."

He has visited Rutgers and BC out of the schools that have offered him and talked about his experience at each school.

Rutgers: "I’ve visited Rutgers plenty of times. I have a real good relationship with the coaches from there. I fell at home when I go there. I like how they use the power game and run the ball a lot."

Boston College: "I like their new offensive line coach. The players seem to respect him. I’ve watched one of their practices and I like how they go full contact and hit a lot. The campus is awesome and they have good academics."

Foose broke down what he will be looking for in a college when he goes to make his decision.

"Academics, coaches that get along with the players, and everybody’s work ethic will be important,” he said. “I plan on getting it over with before my season. I’m going to visit a few more places and then I will narrow it down some."

He added that right now, Rutgers, Boston College and Stanford all stand out, but he does not have any sort of an order or cluster of top programs at the moment.

ESPN/Scouts Inc. gives Foose an overall grade of 75.
