Cornerback Ricardo Allen (Daytona Beach, Fla./Seabreeze) is claiming an offer from South Carolina and receivers coach Steve Spurrier Jr. . The 5-foot-9, 168-pounder spoke about the offer and what other schools he is considering with TheBigSpur.com.
"Coach Spurrier Jr. came by yesterday and told my coach he was going to offer,” he said. “He told my coach that it was a cornerback school and they had three guys go in the draft last year for cornerbacks. He was also talking about playing time. I like that their cornerbacks play a lot of man coverage. I am definitely going to visit them. Me and my mom are talking about it and it will probably be for an official. I have high interest in them."

Illinois, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Michigan, Florida State and Alabama also are showing Allen interest. The Seminoles are the lone major in-state program doing so.

"They have good cornerbacks and take care of their players,” he said. “I grew up liking them. I like the environment and the fans. I also like (FSU offensive line coach) Rick Trickett."

Allen, who was named to the All-Combine team at the 2009 Under Armour All-American Combine in Orlando, said he was wide open right now with regards to his favorites, but that the Gamecocks and Noles were definitely high on his list.
