South Carolina remains in the hunt for safety
Demetruce McNeal (College Park, Ga./Banneker). McNeal spoke with TheBigSpur.com about the current state of his recruitment and gave his thoughts on the Gamecocks and several other programs.
“(USC defensive coordinator)
Lorenzo Ward came by a couple of weeks ago,” he said. “(Ward) told my coach that we (USC also has offered Demetruce’s brother DeMarco) were the main reason he was visiting. He just wanted to check in and watch some of our highlights. South Carolina has been recruiting me hard. They say I could play safety, cornerback, and punt and kick returner. I like the campus and the facilities at South Carolina. I also like all of the coaches. I’m planning on visiting again this summer."
West Virginia and Auburn are the other two schools that have offered Demetruce. Alabama, Tennessee, New Mexico and North Carolina also are showing attention.
He talked about the Tigers, where his teammate
Shawn Kitchens is verbally committed.
"Their coaches came by were showing us some love,” he said. “Shawn going there is a big factor. We have all been talking about playing together on the next level forever. We were planning on waiting until National Signing Day so when Shawn committed it was a shock for me. The lack of depth really stands out to me. The coaches are working hard and they need help right away."
McNeal hinted that he may commit soon.
"I’m thinking about doing it early,” he said. “I’m in the process of thinking about it. It could still be signing day. Auburn, South Carolina and West Virginia are my top three schools.”
